Can’t mention Bob Seger and not play something from one of the best songwriters of the past few decades IMHO. The album’s title track was a big hit but I dug a little deeper at my first radio station.

And so it seems our destiny
To search and never rest
To ride that ever changing wave
That never seems to crest
To shiver in the darkest night
Afraid to make a stand
And then go back and do our time
Out there in No Man’s Land

The second concert I attended in the spring of ‘83 in Minneapolis was Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band - they also played a really kickass four set and opening for them was this then unknown dude and his band touring to support his debut.

To get a feeling that you never knew
You never knew
Got the secret in the palm of your hands
Will you keep it, woman?
Will you break this man?
It's such a Fool’s Game

This guy … so many good tunes whether it was with Mud Crutch, the Heartbreakers, Traveling Wilburys or, in this case, a solo effort.

Out of a dream
Out of the sky
Into my heart
Into my life
And you were just
A Face In The Crowd
You were just
A Face In The Crowd
Out in the street
Thinking out loud
A Face In The Crowd

The evening’s “live” selection ondeck; my very first rock concert was Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers in Minneapolis in April of 1983 on the “Long After Dark” tour. They played for friggen hours. And then did two encores. It was really ass kicking. Don’t have the tour shirt, though - I gave it to a girl I had a crush on. I was 18 and … well, derp.

More from Mr. Petty. No reason not to, really.

You want for me to think that I'm being used
You want her to think it's over
You can't see it doesn't matter what you do
Buddy, you don't even know her

She's gonna Listen To Her Heart
It's gonna tell her what to do
She might need a lot of loving
But she don't need you

Once upon a time (in April, 1981 when I was 16), I portrayed Curly in the Antigo High Drama Club’s production of the musical “Oklahoma!” Three firsts for me; my first lead in a musical, first time kissing a girl onstage (the guy who portrayed Ali Hakim on opening night was whispering “Slip her the tongue!” from the wings) and the first time firing a weapon onstage. Here I am, 46 years later and singing along as Turner Classic Movies airs it this afternoon.

Yes Republicans, you're right. You are way more tolerant than the Dems.
We would never tolerate a member of our party colluding with an enemy to commit treason. And we wouldn't tolerate a Dem trying to destroy the country. And we wouldn't tolerate a Dem stealing classified documents and selling them to foreign enemies. And we wouldn't tolerate a Dem who rapes women and little girls. So yeah. I guess you win the tolerance competition.
Congratulations. - Mindy Fischer

And it had John Malkovich, one of those actors who can take any flick he’s in that may not be the greatest and turn it into something watchable.

Re-watching Con Air as I work today.

I love how '90s movies so often, no matter how absurd their core premise or plot got, played it dead serious, without the post-Whedon wink-and-a-nod to the audience that modern flicks feel obliged to include out of insecurity.

It’s grown quiet out here on deck except for Gizmo jumping on the screen, reaching for a moth. And the critters in the yard and beyond.

We sail through endless skies
Stars shine like eyes
The black night sighs
The Moon in silver dreams
Falls down in beams
Light of the night
The Earth a purple blaze
Of sapphire haze
In orbit always
