The Tangerine Tyrant may not be the first national leader to be thinking about self-enrichment more than governing, but he's certainly brought this sort of leader-as-grifter logic into the mainstream....

If this is the future we are lost (as a global society - which is not to say it was all hunky dory to start with, of course)

Bite Size Economics No.27

'Speed of turnover is the engine of capitalist profitability'

The central mechanism of capitalist enterprises is the transformation of cash into commodities & the subsequent transformation of those products back into cash (Marx modelled this as a circular relation).

Each time the enterprise completes the circle it produces profit; so the more times a year the circle is completed, the more profits are made! Unsold stock is thus a brake on profits.

Oh dear, the media finally seem to be digging a little deeper into the finances of the Fascist Frog... and he does not like it.

He may be saying that rumours of his departure from UK politics are 'wishful thinking' but few can think that the revelations of impropriety are going to stop any time soon...

Of course, the real Q. is why have the Right media mow turned on him; we can expect they have a replacement in mind.

Q. if every employee owns shares in a company, do they need to also be represented by a union?

Octopus energy thinks not & are resisting moves by the GMB towards a voluntary recognition agreement for those staff who think a union would help them represent their interests in the speedily growing energy firm.

Given Greg Jackson (Octopus' found/CEO) is a Labour supporter might this get a little awkward (not with Blue Labour but with Labour's likely new leader)?

So, its now pretty clear that the heatwaves in the first hall of 2026 were exceptional & have been outside the averages for the last 35 years;

iven the time it takes the environment to respond to human activity (and changes in that activity), I think we can say this is the likely story for years (or decades) to come.

Clearly, we need to develop a built environment better able to deal with temperature spikes & personal habits that keep us safe(r)... but will we?

Why is the world's richest man, Elon Musk, who you might think would be focussed on how SpaceX can live up to its astronomical (pun intended) valuation, actually more focussed (at least on social media) on British politics & his growing support for the far right?

Apart from taking joy in his 'interference' its difficult (for me at least) to understand why he's so interested..... unless its just an environment where he (seemingly) can act with impunity?
