I have a question for writers out there....
(please read wntire thread before replying)

I have a friend who is dying of an illness that is taking away her mobility. Her ability to speak, to communicate, is nearly gone. (It takes about 3 or 4 minutes for her to complete a simple sentence. ) She asked me to write a book about my observations of the deliberate mismanagement of retirement homes, and the conditions residents and employees endure.

II told her that judging the responses I receive from the public when I mention the problems, I doubt anyone is interested and it won't motivate anyone to force the government to create better protective laws or enforce same.

After further discussion I promised to follow through with her request even though she will soon pass on.

I am lacking in writing and communication skills -is it expensive to hire someone to edit what I try organize and try to put down on paper?

@TrueNorthSpice It depends what you’re looking for. An editor can work wonders, but they’re not writers. A writer, be it ghost or otherwise, well it can end up being a full time job, so that can get expensive depending on the size of the project. Expect 5 to 6 digits for a proper novel. Editors need a manuscript to work with, and they can charge per hour or per project. Developmental editing will still cost tens of thousands—depending on length of the work you’re targeting.
