Close-in image of a hydrangea flower. There are a number of mini-flowers that make up the larger flower head. The little 5 petal florettes begin as a greenish yellow color with four tiny yellow balls in the center. As they open and grow, they turn from yellow to light lavender to darker blueish lavender at maturity. The little floret closest to us is nearly its mature color. The rest are in various stages from totally yellow to lightly tinged with lavender.
