@JoshHrach AIM and IRC were the days, for sure! I was really hoping the community I was part of would go the route of IRC, but they didn't unfortunately.

It sucks when you meet some good people but things don't align with everyone to have a home on a platform that everyone likes. It's certainly part of how social media works today and has for years and will continue to do so going forward for a long time.

I guess it's time to find something new, something that works for me and something I enjoy.

I guess Mastodon is the only place I'm meant to be at this time. I have friends here, right? Y'all are my friends, aren't you? 🤪

I wish those folks all the best. They were some cool humans, but Discourse simply isn't for me, sorry.

@BenReser Wow, very awesome to see you here! Not sure if you remember me from back in those days. I too was a mod for Mandrake/Mandriva back with you, Grimau(spelling?) moonie and a couple of others.

@Ronnie Yep yep. A big majority of those was when I was driving an 18-wheeler back in the mid-late 90's. But it's hands down my favorite place in the USA.

@Ronnie I've been to Las Vegas 150+ times but have never been there to see the fireworks on July 4th. Definitely something I'd love to do at some point.
