Me: wakes up to a series of "I'm not CWing this! I know it's shocking but people need to see it!"
Also me: what am I even looking at? Is that the USA? Are those... Americans walking on the streets?
Replying to @coolandnormal@aus.social
"it's so shocking I can't CW it, you MUST see this"
[photos of men in beige pants and light blue shirts walking down the street]
@coolandnormal Those are fascist thugs trying to intimidate people, especially people of color, and start violence. One photo worth a CW is the subway train full of only those white nationalists and a single Black woman, looking for support from the photographer. It might be US-exclusive fear, but it's greatly unsettled me, having been surrounded by a similar mob before. And I have my white skin to protect me. Her fear must be so much more fundamental. It's awful.
A lot of those photos are just dozens of Nazis out on a stroll, looking for trouble. I wouldn't CW that, but other people might feel differently. All this nonsense on our country's 250th. 😡
@spiegelmama right! The context of the 250th anniversary of the founding of political entity adds heaps of context, I had forgotten that was in play.
@coolandnormal I figured. The threat and the fear aren't automatic to everyone who sees the photos, which is why I thought adding local context would help. ❤️
