I favour corporate capture over stupidity as the most likely explanation, but perhaps I am being too generous. With Trudeau, it was a bit more more of a whole-of-government thing, but with Carney it's more of a one man show.

I think they need someone like UK Green leader Polyansky, who is unabashed in his progressive politics, and not trying to hedge his bets with the basic Cons who like gardening, camping or trophy hunting types. It’s like the NDP trying to appeal to “fiscal conservatives”: they end up alienating their prime constituency.
@fgbjr It’s happening everywhere in the world. “The people” means “my select few.” People who assume it includes them are dupes.
@komposer @deirdresm Not so long ago they were violently furious that masks were required to reduce the spread of Covid. Police (same) were furious because protestors wore masks. They pushed for laws criminalizing it. Which confirms which side they’re on: the fascist death cult side.
