Ex-Decmil CEO behind massive NT data centre project
The application joins a bulging data centre pipeline at a delicate time as industry and governments push to exploit booming demand and manage community concern about the impact

A former CEO of engineering firm Decmil — which ran into trouble towards the end of his tenure — and his ten dollar company are behind a “hyperscale” Northern Territory data centre project backed by massive solar, battery and gas capacity.

Energy North lodged an application under the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act last month for “Project Ares”, which includes the giant data centre, a 3GW solar farm, 16 gigawatt hours of battery storage and a 1038 megawatt “hydrogen ready” gas-fired power station.
