This is about as anti-American as it gets.
A Texas tattoo artist's 30-year sentence over "anti-Trump" zines is sparking major outrage 👀
Daniel "Des" Sanchez Estrada, a Texas tattoo artist, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison following a case connected to a 2025 anti-ICE protest.
According to prosecutors, Daniel Sanchez Estrada did not attend the protest itself.
Instead, the case centered on allegations that he transported a cardboard box containing political zines and other materials after his wife, Maricela Rueda, was arrested in connection with the demonstration.
Before receiving his sentence, Sanchez Estrada made an emotional statement in court, telling the judge he was "not a terrorist" and describing himself as a father, husband, teacher, and poet.
The sentence has quickly sparked backlash from free speech advocates.
The Freedom of the Press Foundation argues the case raises serious First Amendment concerns, questioning whether possessing political literature should be treated as criminal evidence. Sanchez Estrada's attorney has also confirmed that an appeal is already in the works.
Now, the case is fueling a fierce debate online, with people divided over whether the sentence was justified or a troubling test of free speech in America.
