Smarter cars mean safer roads.

From 7 July 2026, all new passenger cars and vans across the EU must have these life-saving systems:

🔸Advanced emergency brake detecting pedestrians and cyclists
🔹Advanced driver distraction warning system
🔸Better forward vision
🔹New tests for worn tyres
🔸Expanded safety glass area designed to protect pedestrians during accidents

I find the EU's whitewashing ads unappealing. The video is also quite pointless in terms of the actual message, except that it demonstrates once again that vulnerable road users are not seen as part of traffic, but instead operate on a separate track — mostly and sadly because motorised traffic does not obey fundamental safety rules. Yet technology is not used to enforce these rules, but rather as a last-resort emergency backup to prevent worse. I don't get it.
