#MIA. for #MonochromeMonday

When my brother-in-law texted me on Friday night that a band we love, German electro-pop/rock band MIA., will be playing at the #Dessau city festival the next day – for free, no less – I decided to add the #concert to our holiday extravaganza. So kiddo and I drove for an hour to my former hometown, had a blast in the rain, and drove back at midnight. Worth it! 🤩

Black-and-white photograph of Mieze Katz, lead singer of German band MIA, performing at the centre of a rain-soaked stage. Dramatic beams of stage lighting cut through the darkness, illuminating her glittering costume as water droplets spray around her. In the foreground, silhouetted audience members hold umbrellas aloft. The stage features a visible metal truss structure with professional lighting fixtures, creating a striking contrast between the brightly lit performer and the shadowy, umbrella-filled crowd.

A preserved pig-shaped papier-mâché toy music box, covered in cream and dark brown patchwork pigskin with a small curved tail and yellowed ears, displayed behind glass in a museum case. This famous lucky pig was rescued with Edith Rosenbaum from the Titanic in April 1912. It plays 'The Maxixe' when its tail is twisted and was used by Edith to calm frightened children in the lifeboat.
