Up early enough on a perfectly calm morning to send up the #drone for some first light shots AND have my coffee before I go out. Yesterday, the wind didn't calm down until after sunset — it was brutally windy all day — so all I got were blue hour shots like this one. I have never seen so many boats anchored in Fisherman Bay on Lopez Island. We got a good view of the fireworks from the marina, but the folks at anchor were right in the action. Stay tuned for this morning's shots.

@mlanger Lovely shot is that Maria - I'm just curious, do you have any flight height restrictions? We have 400 ft. max from takeoff location.

@Dolphinchaz 400 feet is our max, too. Most of my shots are taken from under 300 feet, but I went to the max on this one. Big scene!

@mlanger I thought it might be around the 400 feet mark, I only go that high if I'm needing a big landscape shot. We have to be very careful up here in the Highlands of Scotland, you would think the airspace would be clear but we get a lot of jet fighter training in the glens and mountain passes - it gets really busy some days.

@Dolphinchaz I'm mostly worried about birds. I am within 3 miles of an airport here, but not on the approach path. And seaplanes aren't landing here this weekend because the bay is full of anchored boats.

@mlanger Yeah, I don't operate anywhere near bird colonies - footage would be nice but I won't endanger any birds 🚫

@Dolphinchaz This isn't colonies. It's just birds like around marinas, etc. Lots of gulls. Or my home; we have a variety of hawks, magpies, crows, etc.
