I find it incredibly strange that we celebrate today as America’s 250th birthday. It’s the 250th birthday of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
We didn’t win the Battle of Yorktown (the last major conflict of the Revolutionary war) until Oct. 19, 1781! And the Treaty of Paris wasn’t signed until Sept. 3, 1783!
Heck, we weren’t even the United States until New Hampshire ratified the constitution on June 21, 1788!
