i had coffee with a particle physicist, as one does when you are in geneva.

since i've arrived in switzerland less than 72 hours ago, i have procured:

- peruvian extra picante hot sauce
- a bottle of black pepper
- several packs of emergency food

luckily in geneva there's the possibility of getting some of the stuff i really like... even if it's dreadfully expensive. like the US$4 single pack of indomie goreng that i got, but i needed with my entire soul

i've become my mother. i'm making fried rice to take with me to a conference, where they are unlikely to have food + food that i like.

My week at the UN has started in the most UN way: standing in a interminably long line in the sun

Sunday brunch options were brunch for US$60, or eat the stuff I squirreled away. I chose the latter.

Hotel options in Geneva this week are.. difficult. I had one night not accounted for in the middle of a few major conferences. I’m paying an eye watering amount for the privilege of not sleeping on an airport bench
