The sun is setting, most everything except water and sky is in near silhouette. We are standing beside a rushing stream in a forest of leafless trees and shrubs, although a handful of crumpled brown leaves cling to branches here and there. Ahead the stream pours out into a lake. The sky through the branches is a pale blue with some clouds, mostly clustered along the horizon. The setting sun is painting those clouds bright gold and orange.
