@laru I thought of making this since I saw posts on fedi that a lot of people left Discord and that they are searching for communities not on Discord so I am making this so my community is visible outside of Discord

@luna giving people access to information they would otherwise need to register an account on a proprietary platform for is cool and good

@laru it is good even if you are registered on Discord since I don't have to force people to join my Discord server only for them to leave it right after they check, this is universally shareable everywhere even in Discord

@luna i first switched from discord to matrix in early 2023, it was a p smooth transition because i wrote a bridge just for that so that the rest of my friends could stay on discord, but eventually most of them actually joined matrix too and the bridge wasnt needed anymore

earlier this year i switched from matrix to xmpp and almost all of my friends switched together with me right away

i think once youve established a certain level of friendship and similar principles its really easy to get people to join your cause and move to a better platform together with you

@laru the thing is I maintain a community Discord server with 150+ people as of now so just switching to XMPP or matrix isn't really possible

I have friends who made Matrix accounts and XMPP accounts to have a second contact, and a lot of my friends will do this, but not an entire community

tho I am considering setting up Fluxer and inviting people to Fluxer alongside Discord and running some sort of bridge bot and possibly extending this bridge to Fluxer as well
