My NAS is still on synology DSM 6.4.x ... should I upgrade to 7.x? Is it better, or is it enshittified crap?

@kboyd I upgraded to 7.1.x, and all I got was crippled docker support, and having to re-configure the reverse proxy and SSH :|
If you use it as a NAS only, it is fine

@wanwizard @ocramius @kboyd never heard of Expenology before. Does it run your NAS better than what Synology puts out? Part of the reason I now have a home cluster is how crappy containers ran on it, and how flaky the controls for it used to be
@wyri @wanwizard @ocramius Looking into it, it's hard to find a central resource for it (seems like there might be some "cloning" going on, like the fake sites that plague OrcaSlicer), but it sounds like Xpenology lets you run Synology's software (DSM) on custom hardware builds.
So it doesn't run custom software on Synology hardware, it's the other way around - custom hardware running Synology software.
