Me: July is my favourite month.
Them: Why July?
Me: I didn’t. It really is my favourite.

@dgar I had to read that one aloud - in my head - to get it.... clever!

@buddhawilliams @dgar As a non-native english speaker: until now I spoke "Ju" from "July" like in "Judy". But it seems that, at least in some (most?) parts of the world "July" is spoken like "you lie".

@MadMike77 @buddhawilliams @dgar The joke isn’t about how July is pronounced. Everyone says it the way you do. It’s about how English speakers often run “Why’d you” together into “Why’djou”, or “Why-Jew”, especially when speaking fast or carelessly. So “why’d you lie” sounds almost exactly the same as “wide July” or “why July”.
