This is just one example of the many egregious oversights that make me scorn the Academy Awards.

Civil Engineer, bit of a history buff, fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, and Marvel. Progressive politics, feminist, pro-union, anti-fascist, absolutely free public education, kick the fossil fuel habit. Born at Touro Hospital in New Orleans when John F. Kennedy was president and Jimmie Davis was governor.

Yes, I can understand that certain individuals are in a precarious situation which could be made worse if they were put into a public spotlight. It’s for each individual to determine what is best for them. I know I’m lucky to be able to be public with all my political and religious views. I’m mostly angry that these people, as a group, are hiding their identities. They are emulating Klansmen and feeding on the image of a faceless mob who cannot be held accountable, and are thus more terrifying. Hence, they are terrorists.

This whole album is beautiful. Saw Matthew Sweet when he was touring and the opening act was newcomers Fastball. Great show from start to finish!

I remember hearing this for the first time on WTUL New Orleans!

Fuck these fucking fascists. I’ve been to dozens of protests over the years, written tens of letters to the editor, and I’ve posted on social media and blogs since before the internet had pubes and I’ve never never never hidden my name or my face. These people are Cowards and deep down they know they’re wrong.
