Death

I am actually really upset about this.

I quit doing climate protest after covid because it seemed like XR had sucked all the oxygen out of the space and I meant to restart but I haven't.

There's also a way where it seems like all leftists think the problem is billionaires and thats true but its very far from the whole story. The implications of billionaires means protests against fascism are implicitly also climate protests, but this doesn't lessen the need for climates specific protests. Indeed, it means that climate protests are implicitly antifascist protests.

We used to worry about ecofascism, but the current position of billionaires makes that extremely unlikely.

Anyway, what's going on with climate protests in London now?

I feel like I owe it to Alex.

If you are autistic, you are at higher risk of heat stroke. There are more heatwaves coming. Please be careful and try to stay cool. You need to drink 3 litres of water a day. Be aware this can impact your electrolytes. You can these from the chemist in tablets you can dissolve in water.

You can cool yourself down by showering or using cold flannels etc. You might want to get a room thermometer. If you're in a place that's really very warm or its making you sweat loads or feel uncomfortable and you can't cool it down, you need to find some place else to go.

A friend of mine is making a webpage for tips aimed specifically at people on the spectrum and I'll link it when it goes live.

Heat stroke is very dangerous, please try to stay safe.

I contacted an autistic campaigner and she put up a web page about heat risks for autistic people.

Some of the increased risks also apply to other forms of neurospicy. And people who take SSRIs also can have trouble with sweating and regulating body temperature.

Heatstroke is a risk to everyone, even the most neurobland, healthy person.

Please be careful in the heat! Don't mess around with heatstroke risk. Be safe. Ask for help if you need it.

Alex was a musician and so is his brother, so there was a short concert immediately before the Shiva. Their mother was a prominent piano teacher, so the quality of performance in the impromptu recital was extremely high. A cantor/opera singer flew out from New York.

One thing I like about Progressive Judaism is that there is flexibility in the tradition. We do a Shiva because its how things are done, but we can give a concert if it will help the bereaved.

Alex was politically active. I knew he was fighting for greater education access and funding, bit it turns out one of his causes was also climate change. His fight carries on....
