Every time European journalists claim Putin is about to invade Poland or the Baltic nations, I just have one question: Putin and what army?
Is it the army which is already losing a war in Ukraine, or is it a new army that Putin funds with the oil revenue he no longer has?
@randahl Putin hasn't entirely exhausted his supply of bodies, bombs, or delusions. Would directly attacking a NATO country after years of sustained heavy losses be a sane move? No. Is Putin sane? No.

Attacking Poland to save face could be an option.
He can't pull out of Ukraine, because admitting that Russia got its ass kicked by a much smaller country under his leadership is political suicide (and probably an exit through the nearest window), getting his ass kicked by Nato is a completely different thing and could allow him to end the war.
