@wcbdata Is there no conflict? The right wing is lately dredging up a lot of red scare language, which is itself disinformation.

@Nonya_Bidniss You might want to reconsider reposting this... It's factually wrong and at least partly AI generated. I suspect it's copypasta from one of the misinformation groups that tries to create conflict where there really isn't any. Seems to have originated on Facebook where such stuff is rife.

@wcbdata Hmmm, ok thanks

@Nonya_Bidniss Yep, definitely... My unsubstantiated theory is that it's trying to scare people away from the Democratic Socialists and from social support programs, in the spirit of that messaging.l, while being vague enough to get circulated in progressive circles.

@wcbdata It really seemed to me to be the exact opposite of that. But I guess because I think there's a difference between Democratic Socialists and socialism

@Nonya_Bidniss Also, I think that's kind of why it was designed the way it was. It equates the word socialism with totalitarian, nationalist governments using the word while diminishing the successful applications of socialism in Europe and elsewhere.
Just an aside: I'm glad we can have this conversation here!

@wcbdata Yeah ok this particular point is the one that makes the argument for me. Good enough for deletion.

@wcbdata I didn't even think of it as a debate
