@bampot many years ago when we first began using metric in construction I worked with an old carpenter who used a hybrid system. He'd measure a length of timber at, for example, five feet seventy nine millimetres. It worked for him but just confused the rest of us.

@bampot ah. The New Zealand solution. Site manager at one job was a kiwi and he told me that when they metricated you could no longer buy measuring tapes and such with inches. They simply went the whole hog on it.
