How do bluejays do it? I never see a bluejay around my yard, ever. Except in that once or twice a year splurge when I get peanuts. I put peanuts out there in one of the feeders and there are like immediately 10 bluejays swarming. How do I never see them at all if they are always there to clock it when a peanut appears? They're big, loud birds. I swear they are simply not anywhere in the vicinity until the peanuts happen, and then it's instantaneous.

@Nonya_Bidniss IDK but I see the same phenomenon in other species: suet causes woodpeckers to appear out of nowhere and the annual dropping of seeds by the birch trees summons finches that don't exist otherwise.

@DaveFlater That's true about the suet, yep. I guess it must be they can smell food from far away...pretty amazing
