@JonChevreau as an American, it’s a little different position for me (I believe you’re Canadian?). But in any case in men’s soccer/fútbol, my main team is Spain 🇪🇸 (where I live and how I got into fútbol, when I was a teen). So as long as Spain wins tomorrow night (🤞), I would be rooting for Spain to win the next match anyway.

Canadian and sure it is a pity we are out of the tourney. I agree the U.S. team is not to blame here and us not cheering for them won’t make a whit of difference. My point is that if the FIFA/Trump collusion succeeds in propelling the U.S. past Belgium, any subsequent victories will be tainted.

@BlueWaver22 Having just read Regime Change, 47’s corruption is uppermost in my mind just now and FIFA is just as unsavoury. After the fake Peace Prize I was going to boycott this tourney but got sucked back in. After this incident I am second guessing my decision to pay attention to it.

It’s abt players not politicians or the association—every professional sport has corruption (Collgiate too) FIFA maybe more than others…we need some kind of distraction from the shit show here in the US. I love soccer. My son played in Spain & England & US from the time he was three (there’s corruption in kids soccer believe me)

But I’m not going to let Trump or FIFA take the joy of watching this World Cup away from me.

The decision to overrule the red card rulingI may not be unprecedented. But it looks corrupt as hell, when a host country's head of state makes a special appeal of a single decision affecting his team, and FIFA's...management...gives him what he wants.

The US team has a choice, and it's too bad Trump's put them in this position, but I think the only right play here is for them not to play Balogun against Belgium. That is the ONLY way any wins will be seen as legitimate. If they do that, then I'll still root for my team. If not, the only way we get out of this humiliation is to lose. @jawarajabbi @JonChevreau but FIFA is saying Trump didn’t intervene. Who knows if he really did. The guy tries to take credit for everything - I’m torn. Should the team be penalized and keep Flo out when he’s our best scorer I mean I don’t know it’s just so frustrating. I say they don’t start him, but they bring him in if they need him. And the red card was reversed on a standing FIFA rule that has been used before in the World Cup and Ronaldo‘s red card was also reversed. Plus it was a BSRed
